Courageous Dreaming

We are what we think.
Everything we are arises from our thoughts.
With our thinking we create the world.

If the world is what we think it is, then we all have the power to dream our world into being.  As Alberto Villoldo writes in his book Courageous Dreaming – How Shaman’s Dream the World into Being, “…when…you awaken to your power to dream, you begin to flex the muscles of your courage. Then you can dream bravely: letting go of your limiting beliefs and pushing past your fears. You can begin to create truly original dreams that germinate in your soul and bear fruit in your life.”

In business there are usually some goals and some type of plan.  It may all be in your head, or you may have an elaborate plan with detailed goals on special software on your business computer, but there is an end-point, a vision of the future..a DREAM you are bringing into being.

Now, assume that your initial plan is NOT your Courageous Dream (CD)…..this is the seed of your CD, but not your CD.  Your CD germinates in your soul when you get into action and get slammed a few times, when you review your motives, when you have exposed every (OK probably not every) excruciating limiting belief and fear that you have.

The key is to adjust your plan as you go….flow with the go…it will be ready to bear fruit much quicker that way.

a beautiful walk inside you ~Rumi

Why Poetry?

Through this blood veil

the lover sees a beautiful walk.

Reason says, There are only six

directions: north, east, south, west,

up, and down.  There is no way

out of those limits.

Love says, But I have

many times escaped.

Reason comes to a marketplace

and begins haggling prices.

Love wanders away with other

business to transact, something

to do with incomparable beauty.

There are secret things happening.

Hallaj listens to whispers and walks off the speaker’s

platform onto a scaffold.

Dreg-drinkers have love perceptions

that reasonable men fiercely deny.

They say, we cannot go barefooted

in that courtyard. There is nothing but

thorns through there.

Love answers, The thorns are inside you.

Be silent, and pull what hurts

out of your loving’s foot.

Then you will see gardens

with secluded rose bowers,

and they will all be inside you.

Shams is the sun

obscured by this cloud of words.

Maybe he will burn the overcast off

and let love clear and brighten.

Powerful Pause

When you take the time to powerfully and consistently pause, you are able to recognize and allow emergence.

Emergence energetically grounds intuition and ignites rapid evolution free of default patterns.

Emergence is possible when we review not just the spreadsheet, but the spaces in-between.

Commanding Your Business Domain

Powerfully commanding the domain of your business means being consciously aware of all aspects of your being and entrepreneurial qualities that impact the holistic success of your business. Integrating tangible business components and intangible connections to chakras provides multi-dimensional support.

You are your business. Whatever is showing up – the good, the bad, and the ugly –can be addressed by looking within and clearing the chakras that are connected to the seven components of a successful business. You can then operate from a powerful holistic alignment.

The seven components of a successful business are:

Magical Mission
“Oh WOW” Offerings
Supportive Org. Structure
Clear Communications
Financial Finesse
Community Contribution

When taken as a whole, these components give you the ability to act gracefully and powerfully in time and space, because you are not operating in randomness. As growth and challenges occur, it is easy to stop viewing from a holistic perspective, go unconscious, pick up energy that is not helpful, and become random in action.

Deeply and holistically clearing energy and connections between you and your business gives you access to multi-dimensional support, helps you respond to external events with powerful conscious awareness and hence, expand the results you deliver over time for your clients, customers and yourself!

Individual Command Your Domain Series
These eight, hour-long sessions will clear and enhance your inner landscape as it relates to specific core components of a strong business. You will be able to respond to external events with more awareness and clarity, and hence, expand and amplify results you deliver. More about the Command Your Domain Series

Vital Serpent Energy

When you are working with your own aligned vital energy, you are working from a space of wholeness and support.

Kundalini Yoga works directly with vital energy; moving it through every cell of a relaxed, yet awake body. In the Kundalini teaching, coiled vital or Kundalini energy (represented by a flowing energetic serpent) typically lies dormant, at the base of our spine or sacrum. With serpent coiled and sleeping at our base, the practice of Kundalini Yoga starts to unlock that door and ever so slowly, our personal serpent starts to slither its way up through the Chakras, waking up and igniting them one by one until it reaches the top, the crown Chakra… sourcing deep levels of meditation, self-realization, empowerment, and enlightenment.

Upcoming workshops in Galisteo, NM related to vital energy

The serpent or snake is a powerful spiritual symbol that is revered worldwide. The snake is associated with negative and positive, death and birth, duality.

Another motif is rebirth or renewal. This creature has the ability to shed its old skin as it grows new. The casting off of the old metaphorically, represents the release of old ways of thinking that don’t work in our lives. The fresh new skin found underneath is rebirth and new beginnings… purification and transformation.

To many cultures the power of the serpent is in its representation of vital energy. Vital energy is our true essence. It’s our pure light in harmony and balance. This energy is known as prana in Sanskirt, chi in China, ki in Japan, and gal in Galic. To the Maya coyopa, translated to “lightning in the blood,” represents this vital energy.

The serpent and its meaning in ancient cultures

Serpent Mound

The “Great Serpent Mound” in Ohio, USA is one of the largest serpent effigies. The mound Serpent Serpent Mound OhioMound Ohiois a three foot high, quarter mile long, prehistoric mound thought to be built by the Adena culture. It shows the serpent with a coiled tail and an egg in its mouth. This egg in mouth motif is representative of the potential of actualization through Second Birth or rebirth.

The Hopis worshiped a horned or plumed serpent called Awanyu, which is pictured all over Pueblo art. Awanyu is the guardian of water a precious resource of the Hopi. It is usually rendered as a zigzag that suggests flowing water or lightning… a giver of life and renewal. This serpent strongly resembles the plumed serpent of the Aztec culture called Quetzalcoatl.

In the Hindu regions of Asia, the serpent is considered a nature spirit. It is the protector of springs, wells and rivers. Serpents bring rain and thus fertility. But, they can also bring floods and drought. The Hindus believe that how the naga treats humanity is representative of how we treat the snake and its environment. Serpents also carry the elixir of life and immortality.

are you being eaten by your ego?

Conceptual image of a open minded man , lots of copyspaceWhen our mind is negative and our heart closed, the body gets eaten by the ego.

Yogi Bhajan, who introduced Kundalini Yoga to the United States, said “there is not death except by your own ego, and your own negativity, which reduces the voltage of your life force so your circumvent field becomes weak and death creeps into your body.”

Our own habits of possession, constriction, anger, tension, and attachment set up energy patterns within the body that disrupt the normal flow of vital energy. This opens the door to disease, both physical and mental.

Yoga and meditation are very powerful readjustment tools; relaxing the nervous system, moving energy into closed spaces and restoring joy in mind and heart. Since we are all products of our habits and since few of us are without ego, it is important to readjust the flow of energy on a regular basis.

Kintsugi Business

Kintsugi is a Japanese method for repairing broken ceramics with a special lacquer mixed with gold, silver, or platinum. The piece is repaired in a way that makes the container even more valuable than it was priorimages-1 to being broken. Perfect imperfection.

The cracks become the most interesting aspect; making the entire vessel strong and enhancing its inherent beauty.

Sometimes our business endeavors and projects can experience a seemingly unrecoverable setback and discourage us. We all get broken in one way or another in this life. It’s an unavoidable part of living.

Sometimes we get stuck in the brokenness. Or we try to pretend the brokenness is not there – this can impact the success of our relationships and business.

We can make those places stronger than they were before. It is then that scars can deepen, strengthen us and lead to a profound wholeness.

“I must learn to love the fool in me — the one who feels too much, talks too much, takes too many chances, wins sometimes and loses often, lacks self-control, loves and hates, hurts and gets hurt, promises and breaks promises, laughs and cries. It alone protects me against that utterly self-controlled, masterful tyrant whom I also harbor and who would rob me of my human aliveness, humility, and dignity but for my Fool.” — Theodore Isaac Rubin

To heal the resulting manifestations of wounds, we need to bring calm to the nerves that hold the wound – it could be a wound that impacts the entire culture of your organization – keeping everyone tight with an unconscious tension.

Pausing, gaining an overall, broad perspective and re-establishing vision is key to determining next right action. There are many methods available to heal the heart, and of course! yoga and meditation are at the top of the list 🙂

Five things a mindfulness & yoga workshop can do for you

There are some subtle, yet powerful benefits, a mindfulness & / or yoga workshop can provide for you –and of course! …I know of some you can attend 🙂

#1 Create space in your lungs, in your mind, and in your perspective. You’re invited to slow down. Slowing down invites space. It invites us to see that there is more to life than rushing from point A to point B. It actually makes us realize that there is space between point A and point B and there is space between our inhale, exhale—and body parts!

#2 Offer reassurance by supporting you to realize that everything is, in fact, OK. And everything will be OK. All those things on our to-do list won’t seem so urgent anymore.

#3 Make you stronger by proving you are stronger than you think. Yes, you can practice breathwork, mindfulness, and yoga even if you have never practiced before. Yes, you can leave your home for a few hours. The more we tap into the simplicity of exactly this, the stronger we become.

#4 Confirm your worth by confirming you deserve time just for you. We all deserve to feel good on a consistent basis. We all deserve to give to ourselves so we have more to give in return. The world needs more of this.

#5 Provide clarity by allowing sparks to fly from your heart. And when this happens, all of a sudden, you are creating a map for the life you want to live. A massive dose of clarity comes when you mix a group of like-minded people together. You begin to respond instead of react. You begin to live your life.

You can!… relax

images-26-e1398891883830Fundamentally, planning is about creating the steps between a current situation and a chosen future. Steps are taken… entrepreneur writes a strategic plan complete with goals and action steps.

Often though, frustration occurs when as soon as the plan is designed and implemented, we expect specific linear results and can become lost and identified with the goals vs. the journey.

How can we relax when our plan demands that there are customers to find and serve, products to be sold, bills to be paid and targets to reach!?

One option is to go after our targets no matter what – stomping over competitors and employees, short-changing or deceiving customers, destroying the planet and ignoring our own values.

Another option is to recognize and get over the fact that after we plan what we want, the specific linear results from specific actions phase is over. The good news is…now we can actually RELAX and deeply pay attention.

Evolving business concepts proactively interweave action & meditative attention. Meditative attention requires a pause and a release from the grip of ego mind, so we can access broad perspective and continually evolving powerful solutions and next steps.

The more we come from a deep relaxing pause, the more we will intuitively know when and if to intervene and modify external actions with the feedback we receive from “where we are NOW”.

Interweaving planning, pausing, and meditatively relaxing, is the equivalent of ego and sacred attention working together- ensuring honorable, joyful, and truly sustainable bottom-lines.

Give your brain a break

UnknownTaking a break from rushing around, being connected electronically and “on-task” will positively serve you in the long run…. you can actually increase the gray matter in your brain and enjoy a brain-buzz (that is not induced by coffee!) by making sure your day includes meditating and/or doing yoga.

Meditation and yoga buzz is not just a feeling; it’s the positive chemical reactions in the brain that are triggered by yoga and breathwork, and there is scientific research to back it up. As yoga has been increasingly popular in Western culture, more attention has been centered on the science behind these peaceful practices.

At the 2015 annual meeting from the American Pain Association, Dr. M. Catherine Bushnell of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) discussed her findings on how yoga can increase the amount of gray matter (tissues that process information) in the brain, which is the opposite effect that chronic pain has on the brain’s gray matter. More gray matter in the brain can lead to better decision-making, memory, and muscle control. “Some gray matter increases in yogis correspond to duration of yoga practice, which suggests there is a causative link between yoga and gray matter increases,” Dr. Bushnell said.

Another brilliant researcher, Sara Lazar, also found that mindfulness meditation can actually change the structure of the brain to improve learning, assist with memory processes, and maintains a balanced emotional state. Furthermore, existing studies have shown that yoga can alleviate depression, emotional instability, and cognitive functions.

In her marvelous article, 7 Ways Meditation Can Change the Brain, Alice Walton discusses the neurological benefits of yoga and meditation and how it “decreases brain cell volume in the amygdala, which is responsible for fear, anxiety, and stress.” Who needs stress and anxiety? Replace negative emotions with a happy, natural high. Yoga makes us feel good physically and emotionally by its power to “boost levels of the feel-good brain chemicals like GABA, serotonin, and dopamine.” Happy yogis!

This yoga buzz is accessible to everyone and it’s available at any moment. Maintaining a deep awareness of the breath, devoting time to physical movement, and learning to slow down can have lasting effects on the brain. Remember to nurture your most valuable and complex organ, the brain. With patience and practice your yoga buzz can last long after class is over. It’s as easy as that. Do yoga and get high on life. Buzz on!
