Kintsugi Business

Kintsugi is a Japanese method for repairing broken ceramics with a special lacquer mixed with gold, silver, or platinum. The piece is repaired in a way that makes the container even more valuable than it was priorimages-1 to being broken. Perfect imperfection.

The cracks become the most interesting aspect; making the entire vessel strong and enhancing its inherent beauty.

Sometimes our business endeavors and projects can experience a seemingly unrecoverable setback and discourage us. We all get broken in one way or another in this life. It’s an unavoidable part of living.

Sometimes we get stuck in the brokenness. Or we try to pretend the brokenness is not there – this can impact the success of our relationships and business.

We can make those places stronger than they were before. It is then that scars can deepen, strengthen us and lead to a profound wholeness.

“I must learn to love the fool in me — the one who feels too much, talks too much, takes too many chances, wins sometimes and loses often, lacks self-control, loves and hates, hurts and gets hurt, promises and breaks promises, laughs and cries. It alone protects me against that utterly self-controlled, masterful tyrant whom I also harbor and who would rob me of my human aliveness, humility, and dignity but for my Fool.” — Theodore Isaac Rubin

To heal the resulting manifestations of wounds, we need to bring calm to the nerves that hold the wound – it could be a wound that impacts the entire culture of your organization – keeping everyone tight with an unconscious tension.

Pausing, gaining an overall, broad perspective and re-establishing vision is key to determining next right action. There are many methods available to heal the heart, and of course! yoga and meditation are at the top of the list 🙂
